“When the pandemic began in March 2020, Workforce Center staff immediately shifted to working remotely and actually served more job seekers virtually than through the brick and mortar building in Glenwood Springs,” explained Jessica Valand, Director of the Northwest Colorado Workforce Area. “That new way of thinking led us to the idea of our mobile services – why not meet people in their own communities rather than asking them to travel long distances to our office.”
The workforce center provides many free, virtual, and in-person services to job seekers, those already employed who want to improve their skills, and area youth. Services include resume writing, interview skills, job seeker workshops, portfolio development, and communication skills.
The main workforce center office, located at 401 23rd Street, Suite 300 (behind Alpine Bank in Glenwood Springs) is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am – 5 pm for appointments, walk-ins, and remote assistance; phone calls and emails are also fielded by the team Monday through Friday.
“Our goal is to serve more customers throughout the valley with our mobile office hours. It’s very challenging to find a job; we can do so many things online, but it’s always the best to have that face-to-face interaction.”
