September 16, 2022 by Pitkin County

Did you miss this week’s Board Health meeting? Watch a recording here.

This weeks topics include:

Presentations:

  • Recommendation from BoH on staffing request and budget to be presented to BoCC
    • New positions: Epidemiology Program Administrator, Health Promotion and Education Coordinator, Mental Health Data Analyst, EH Specialist (Air Quality) – all to start in July 2023, and budget
      • Comments/discussion
        • BoCC will scrutinize each request with potential recession and other budget limitations
        • Dr. Levin commented that she supports the proposed budget
      • Motion: Move recommended staffing and budget recommendation as presented by staff to BoCC
        • 1st: Bill
        • 2nd: Linda
        • Vote: Unanimously approved
  • CHAPS Presentation – Ariel
    • No questions or concerns
  • COVID & MPX – Carly Senst
  • Comparison with other counties – Jordana Sabella
    • If people have any questions or requests for changes, please email Greg or Jordana
  • Round Robin
    • Detection of disease has been through wastewater surveillance
      • Will become a more useful tool for monitoring community disease burden as we see increases of home tests that aren’t being reported to local public health – especially helpful for when we see influxes of people with local events (e.g., Jazz Aspen) and with winter ski visitors
    • Vax bus: September 20-22 (downtown Aspen, Snowmass Village, and Old Snowmass Market)
      • Available in Glenwood and Carbondale the week before
      • Info available on our website and flu vaccines will become available soon as well

Next meeting date: December 8, 2022
