On 12/22/20 the Pitkin County Public Health Order was amended to restrict personal gatherings, including in lodging, to single households only. To clarify the Public Health Order changes, lodging reservations made prior to 12/22/20 may be honored as long as the reservation meets the prior restriction of no more than 2 households and 10 people.
The lodging restriction applies to any lodging accommodation of 30 days or less, including, but not limited to hotels, lodges, condo-tels, timeshares and any private short term rentals. Reservations made after 12/22 are must adhere to the current requirements and are limited to one household only. More than one household in a lodging unit is prohibited.
- A household is defined as people who do not live in the same residence.
- Due to the state prohibition on gatherings, the rental of individual rooms in a residence as a short-term lodging unit where other occupants are present is prohibited. Further information about personal gatherings and households can be found on our FAQs
If the State of Colorado moves Pitkin County to the Red Level, then the 1 household restriction will be enforced, regardless of when the reservation was made. Based on our current incidence number trend, moving to Red in a future is a real possibility.
