Free Community Testing No Longer Available After Jan 1st.

The well-known free public Covid-19 testing sites will no longer be available in Pitkin County after January 1, 2023. Individuals at risk for severe illness will first need to go through their provider if they wish to be tested in order to access treatment for Covid-19. For anyone not seeking treatment, at-home antigen tests will still be available for purchase at pharmacies. The Pitkin County library will continue to hand out antigen tests to the public as long as supplies last.

Flu, RSV, and Covid-19: The Risk of Co-Infection

Pitkin county has recently moved to the High or red level on the CDC Community Level meter. This is in part to hospitalizations due to Covid-19 and Aspen Valley Hospital recently moved into a higher risk category and reinstated a mask mandate for staff and patients due not only in part of Covid-19 but also other respiratory illnesses.

We know winter brings higher levels of illness as we gather indoors regularly. This winter may be especially difficult as we are currently seeing high levels of Flu, RSV, and Covid-19, even though the cold-weather has just begun. As we travel and gather indoors for holiday events, we must remember the best practices to keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy this season. Read more for information on coinfection and actions to take to protect yourself and others this season.
