The state of Colorado has created a new statewide COVID-19 Matrix Dial this week that has some similarities to the Pitkin County Coronameter.
There are some inconsistencies between the State Matrix Dial and the Pitkin County Coronameter that we are working with the state to resolve. The criteria the state will look at when determining which level each county falls under are the number of new cases, percent positivity of COVID-19 tests, and hospitalization rates. The County’s Coronameter uses additional data that considers community spread and capacity of contact tracing and case investigation that are critical to our ability to safely manage and control the disease.
Pitkin County Public Health will continue to utilize the Coronameter for now as we evaluate the data and work with the state to address any inconsistencies between the two meters.
