COVID-19 Cases in Pitkin County Quadrupled in Past 4-5 Days

December 23, 2021 by Pitkin County

In the past 5 days our cases have quadrupled which has never happened in Pitkin County. Pitkin County is currently at a high level of community transmission according to the CDC Data Tracker and over 1250 tests are scheduled for today in the county. In addition, Aspen Valley Hospital’s overall capacity status has moved to “cautious” due to concerning staff levels and an up-tick in Omicron related patients. We will be closely monitoring hospitalizations. If/when this compromises hospital capacity, additional mitigation strategies will be put in place.

Please be vigilant and make the best choices for you and your family during the holiday and the coming weeks. Continue to get vaccinated/boosted, wear a mask, get tested, distance, stay home if sick and avoid large groups or gatherings. If you are attending social gatherings, please test prior.

The numbers and statuses are rapidly changing, so please check our website for the current data.
